Overview

Presbyterian is seeking a compassionate and skilled Mother-Baby Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The Mother-Baby Nurse provides exceptional care to postpartum mothers and their newborns, ensuring a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment. This role involves monitoring the health of both mother and baby, providing education on newborn care, and promoting bonding and breastfeeding. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in postpartum care, patient-centered, and dedicated to fostering a positive experience for families during this critical time.

 

Type of Opportunity: Full Time (0.9 FTE/36 hours per week)
Work Schedule: 12 Hour Nights

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to postpartum mothers and their newborns, including physical assessments, monitoring vital signs, and addressing any medical concerns.
•  Support and educate new parents on infant care, breastfeeding, and postpartum self-care.
•  Assist with initiating and maintaining breastfeeding, offering guidance and addressing challenges.
•  Monitor mothers for signs of postpartum complications, such as infection, excessive bleeding, or mood disorders, and intervene as needed.
•  Observe and assess newborns for signs of jaundice, feeding difficulties, or other health concerns.
•  Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Respond to emergencies promptly and provide critical care as necessary.
•  Educate families on safety measures, including safe sleep practices and car seat safety.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
• BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire

•NRP: Family Birthing Center, Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Mother/Baby Care
