Overview

The Presbyterian is seeking an Operating Room Manager. The OR manager is a dynamic healthcare leader responsible for overseeing and coordinating the full continuum of perioperative services, including the Operating Room (OR), Sterile Processing Department (SPD), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Preoperative (Preop), and Recovery areas. This role ensures high standards of patient care, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and team collaboration across all surgical services.

The OR Manager works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and hospital administration to support excellent surgical outcomes and a seamless patient experience. Key responsibilities include staffing and scheduling, performance improvement, inventory and resource management, fiscal accountability, and the development and implementation of departmental policies.

A successful candidate brings strong clinical expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and proven leadership in perioperative services to foster a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement

 

Type of Opportunity: Full Time (1.0 FTE/40 hours per week)
Work Schedule: 8 Hour Days

This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversees operations of the OR, sterile processing, preop, PACU, and recovery areas

  • Leads self and others with foundational leadership skills and team management

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and retains staff while ensuring compliance with labor laws

  • Guides orientation programs and supports continuous staff development

  • Implements process improvements to meet quality, safety, and regulatory benchmarks

  • Uses data and technology to enhance patient care and decision-making

  • Contributes to strategic plans and outcome reporting

  • Possesses clinical knowledge to support nursing care in service areas

  • Manages budgets, analyzes financial data, and ensures cost-effective operations

  • Supports staff engagement, performance evaluation, and mentoring

  • Fosters open communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution

  • Promotes diversity, equity, and a shared decision-making culture

  • Models continuous learning, professionalism, and accountability

  • Supports C.A.R.E.S. behaviors and reflective practice

  • Ensures alignment with the Synergy Model through advocacy, collaboration, and inquiry

  • Maintains current licensure and obtains required emergency certifications

  • Meets educational standards or adheres to exceptions for degree completion

  • Meets emergency response requirements tailored to unit/service area assignments

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
  • BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire
