Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the OR Charge RN works with the leadership team to provide clinical and operational shift supervision of care processes which includes patient flow, exceptional care experiences, quality processes, patient safety, and direction of unit staff in designated service area(s).

This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)
Provides direct patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation
Coordinates patient care in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team
Performs assessments and documents findings according to unit standards
Initiates and follows appropriate protocols and standards of care
Administers medications and treatments as prescribed or per protocol, documenting per policy
Identifies and addresses patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout care
Evaluates patient progress toward outcomes and documents accordingly
Responds competently in emergency situations
Delegates tasks to team members based on validated competencies
Communicates effectively to provide leadership and validate patient care
Assists with or delegates procedures, treatments, and surgical techniques as appropriate
Completes education and competency testing specific to patient population and procedures
Demonstrates proficiency in required psychomotor skills
Supports orientation of new staff and students; serves as a resource and role model
Maintains professional responsibility for nursing structure and standards of care
Incorporates organizational mission and values into caregiving activities
Supports shared governance and care delivery models
Assumes leadership roles such as relief charge nurse when needed
Completes age-specific training and mandatory annual inservices (e.g., BLS, safety, infection control)
Participates in unit governance and quality improvement activities
Adheres to professional dress code and displays ID badge
Documents continuing education and maintains licensure and competencies
Maintains positive communication and relationships with patients and team members
Demonstrates punctuality and reliable attendance
Follows safety and equipment policies
Performs other duties as required
